Bunny Harrer (Choir Director) Bunny was born in Cuba, N.Y., the seventh of eight children. As a child, she was always interested in music and began singing solos in church before she began school.. She attended The Baptist Institute - a small women's Christian college in Bryn Maur, PA - for one year with a Christian Ed major. She transferred to Alderson-Broaddus College (Am Baptist College) in Phillipi, West Virginia with a major in Music Education with a minor in Voice and Christian Ed. The college was on a four-term system, so after she finished the Fall term, she elected to stay the Winter term and go with 24 students to Salzburg, Austria for the over-seas term. After returning home from Austria, she accepted the position of Vocal Music teacher at Smethport, PA and taught there for four years. She then moved to Romulus, N.Y. for one year and then on to Newcomb, N.Y. where she taught until she was married in 1974. They moved to the Livonia area in 1975 and had two children, Kimberly and Alan. She accepted the position as Choir Director at the United Methodist Church of Livonia in January of 1978 and have maintained that position ever since. In addition, Bunny has worked as a Bridal seamstress and consultant for the last 28 years. In following with her musical talents, she sang with Sweet-Adeline's for almost 30 years and with the Rochester Eastman Chorus for a few years. Music has always been a major factor in her life and loves sharing her passion with the many choirs of the church. Anyone who can carry a tune is invited to sing with our choir. With a positive attitude and a love of Jesus, we will press on. |
